Prunus subhirtella 'Pendula Rubra' A beautiful, fast growing weeping cherry with masses of deep pink flowers in spring. Suitable for use as a feature tree in gardens and parks.
Strongly weeping. Propagated onto a standard at approximately 1.8 metre.
Lustrous dark green (smaller than usual for the species), finely serrate margins.
Single, deep pink flowers to 13 mm diameter, opening early to mid-spring in two to five flowered umbels before the leaves appear. Brownish-grey bark with many lenticels.
Adaptable to a variety of site conditions, but prefers moist, well drained fertile soils and a position receiving full sun to part-shade. Flowers best in full sun.
